Thanks to @PBS for sharing their list of docs to check out this #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. 🧠 🌎 Spanning many different ages, geographies, and cultures, here are 7 films (or series) that delve into the topic in a meaningful way:
🎞️ FACING SUICIDE combines the poignant personal stories of people impacted by suicide with profiles of scientists at the forefront of research to reveal new insights into one of America’s most pressing mental health crises.
🎞️ OUT OF THE DARK, a youth-focused series of digital-first films tells intimate, emotional, and sometimes surprising stories of people whose lives have been impacted by mental health issues. The series is diverse by ethnicity, age and gender, and is designed to inspire a generation of young people to be vocal and open about their mental health journey.
🎞️ HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT: YOUTH MENTAL ILLNESS follows the journeys of more than 20 young Americans from all over the country and all walks of life struggling with thoughts and feelings that have troubled—and, at times—overwhelmed them.
🎞️ ANY GIVEN DAY from filmmaker Margaret Byrne follows three formerly incarcerated Chicagoans as they manage their respective mental illnesses while searching for stability in their families, friendships, jobs and housing. While documenting the challenges that are faced at the intersections of a punitive carceral system, poverty and substance use, Byrne reckons with her own history of mental illness.
🎞️ ON OUR MINDS is a student-led and student-produced podcast about the biggest mental health challenges young people face. In each episode, two teen reporters guide you through stories by high schoolers from PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs.
🎞️ MYSTERIES OF MENTAL ILLNESS explores the story of mental illness in science and society from its earliest days to present times.
🎞️ The DECOLONIZING MENTAL HEALTH series dismantles the racism that underscores the mental healthcare industry, focusing its gaze on the transformative work of therapists and individuals of color.

Heartwarming and powerful tales of motherhood, there`s something for everyone. Check out our list now and share your favorites in the comments below! 🎥 🍿
🎞️ Happy Mother`s Day (1963) — In 1963 the first known surviving set of American quintuplets were born to Mary Ann and Andrew Fischer. 🎞️ Motherland (2017) — The planet`s busiest maternity hospital is located in one of its poorest countries: the Philippines. There, women face devastating consequences as their country struggles with reproductive health policy and the politics of conservative ideologies.
🎞️ The Genius of Marian (2013) — A banker helps his mother, Pam, preserve the legacy of her mother, Marian, a celebrated artist, before Alzheimer`s disease wipes out her precious memories.
🎞️ First Comes Love (2012) — Brooklyn filmmaker Nina Davenport documents her experience of motherhood, from pregnancy through a sperm donor to raising a child on her own.
🎞️ Yuguo And His Mother (2011) —Facing alcoholic mother, poetic uncle, pure people from the tribe, familiar yet strange forest, Yuguo, who grew up in the city, doesn’t know what to do. In the snow-laden mountains of Aoluguya, northeast of Inner Mongolia, the film chronicles their brief time together.

May the 4th be with you… Let`s celebrate #StarWarsDay with a doc! 🎥 ✨
⭐ If you`re a true Star Warrior then you`re probably already familiar with "Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian" on Disney+. ⭐ Those just dipping their toe into the Star Wars franchise may be better off starting with the behind-the-scenes footage from "Empire of Dreams," 2004`s in-depth look at how creator George Lucas and his film crew made the original trilogy. Find it on Disney+.
⭐ Just perusing Netflix? Check out "The Toys That Made Us: Star Wars," which profiles the production and lasting legacy of Kenner Toy Company`s first-generation Star Wars figurines, a total game-changer in the merchandising and film marketing business.
