DFP Films Featured in Out At The Movies Kick Off Event

Please join us for the kickoff of the 12th Annual Out at the Movies International Film Festival! The evening will highlight two original “Queer History Project” documentaries, created in collaboration with DFP students. Pretty Boy Roy, directed by Emilly Allgair and Riley Kayton turns the spotlight on drag king Roy Fahrenheit and the vibrant community that surrounds them. This short documentary celebrates resilience, artistry, and the power of redefining what it means to rule the stage, and of course, to be a pretty boy.
All that We Have Done, directed by Alissa Simone, traces the fight for queer visibility in Winston-Salem, where families, organizers, and everyday people transformed discrimination into pride, resilience, and lasting change.
Also screening is Tending to the Soul, directed by DW McCrary, winner of OATM’s 2024 Emerging Artist Film Grant, and Welcome to the Yacht House, directed by Carrie Hart & Rick Dillwood.
A short panel discussion and a complimentary post-screening reception with food, beer, & wine will follow the screening of the films.
The event is free and open to all and takes place on Thursday, October 2 at 7:00 PM at the Porter Byrum Welcome Center at Wake Forest University, 1580 Wake Forest Road.
Visit the OATM website for more information on these films and the full festival schedule.
