Kopple and CassidyIt was a privilege and a pleasure for DFP students and faculty to spend an evening with two-time Academy-Award winner Barbara Kopple, founder of Cabin Creek Films, and our former student David Cassidy, producer, Cabin Creek Films.

Kopple and Cassidy spoke to students about the story development and production process for their latest film Desert One. The film uses archival and animation to reconstruct the fraught tale of the covert mission to rescue the 52 American hostages held in the embassy in Tehran in 1980.  Produced for the History Channel, Desert One premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and has screened at IDFA, DOC NYC, and the Double Exposure Investigative Film Festival and Symposium.
