DC1Award-winning Cabin Creek producer, and former student of the DFP faculty, David Cassidy will visit the DFP on October 21- 22.  Cassidy has produced documentary series and features with Barbara Kopple and Cabin Creek Films for over ten years. He most recently produced Running from Crazy which premiered at Sundance 2013. The film follows Mariel Hemingway, granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, as she strives for a greater understanding of her family history of suicide and mental illness.

Cassidy’s love of baseball served him well as the producer of The House of Steinbrenner which aired as part of ESPN’s Peabody Award Winning 30 for 30 series.  In 2006, he produced the verite film  Shut Up & Sing, produced and directed by Barbara Kopple and Cecilia Peck, about the musical group the Dixie Chicks.  The film was shortlisted for an Academy Award nomination.

In addition to screening samples of his work, Cassidy will speak to students about producing and story development. Click here to view a Q & A with the producer in New York City.
