The MFA in Documentary Film offers students an immersive and challenging hybrid 2-year terminal degree program with online summer coursework and on-campus classes during the traditional academic calendar year.

With an established track record of success in documentary education, the DFP provides students with the storytelling skills and industry knowledge needed to build a successful and sustainable career as a filmmaker in a wide variety of professional settings.

Our small program size offers an intimate and responsive learning environment that provides students with the direct access to the faculty, equipment, and opportunities needed to craft the educational experience that helps them reach their storytelling and professional goals.

Through our skills intensive curriculum students build a strong foundation in ethical non-fiction storytelling and production techniques and a solid grounding in pitching, grant writing, and networking strategies.  And while our entrepreneurship class prepares students to successfully position themselves for industry jobs, we also help students make the most of their terminal degree by offering coursework focused on how to succeed in the higher education environment.
